I was recently chatting with one 45-year-old gentleman who loves music and listens to a wide variety. He's recently bought a Bose Acoustimass system and fitted it in his bedroom and hooked it up with an iPod. He simply loves the sound.
I have heard Acoustimass systems at four different friends' places, and I have yet to find the sound anything but dull. I guess it takes all kinds. :)
I wish I could lend my Asawaris, plus any good DIY amp, to some of these friends for three months at a time. Let them listen to an alternative system in the comfort of their own homes, with a beer on a Saturday night. Let them see if they can hear any difference.
You're right about the quality of the Cadence range. They have an entry-level two-way standmount for which a price of Rs.38,000/pair was quoted to me perhaps six years back. Even that model sounds far, far better than the popular sat-sub stuff we see. And if you want to see another range of really good Indian products, check out Lyrita Audio. Their designer apparently has built a very good range of speakers at affordable prices.
Yes, it's a strange phenomenon
